£2.4 MILLION DONATED TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CHARITIES
We believe in a world where women and girls can live a life free from violence and abuse. One in four women will be a victim of violence in her lifetime. On average two women are killed every week by a current or ex-partner. At AVON, we see every woman as a person – not just as a statistic – and each instance of violence is one too many. The paths that lead to these crimes often start at home and within relationships that should be sanctuaries of trust and love. Read all about our promise here.
To draw attention to the unspoken violence devastating women’s lives during the UN’s 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence Avon launched - a global campaign that shines a light on the different forms of non-violent abuse experienced by women around the world, including digital abuse, coercive control and emotional abuse. The campaign reached more than 50 million people.
I had an abusive partner who tried to kill me and went on to kill himself but, the non-physical signs that something wasn’t right were there from the beginning. Violence isn’t just a hit, punch or slap.
I suffered in silence for a decade, surviving both physical and emotional abuse from the age of 19. It was my first relationship, and looking back I honestly thought this is how relationships should be.
Violence against women isn’t always visible on the skin.
