    long-term damage.
  • SPF measures protection against UVB rays - the ones that burn skin, causing immediate damage.
The result? Your skin is beautifully protected from ageing and burning rays.
Suncare Tips
  • It can take as little as 10 minutes to burn on a hot summer's day in the UK.
  • Apply your sun lotion half an hour before you go out into the sun, and re-apply every 2 hours.
  • If you're wearing make-up, put the sun lotion on first: it needs to be next to your skin.
  • Apply sun lotion thickly – most people don't apply enough, and therefore don't get the protection they need. Use a golf ball-sized dollop for a small child and a larger amount
    for an adult!
  • You can even burn on a cloudy day, as UV rays still pass through the clouds.
    Don't take any chances!
  • The skin on your face needs a lighter sun lotion that won't clog your pores – go for a higher SPF to help protect your skin from ageing sun damage.
  • Make applying your children's sunscreen part of their daily routine, like brushing their teeth – you'll be teaching them a life-ling healthy habit!
  • Children need extra protection from the sun – encourage them to play in the shade, wear a hat, long sleeves and trousers, and apply a high factor lotion (SPF30 or higher)
    every 2 hours.
  • Be a role model for your kids. Children will copy you, so if they see you covering up and putting on sunscreen, they're more likely to do the same.
  • Encourage your children to protect their skin by using fun coloured formulas that are easy to rub in – the roller ball is idea to pop in their school bags.
  • After the kids have first gone out, put more sun cream on 30 minutes later. You'll be less likely to 'miss a bit'. Then make sure you re-apply every few hours, especially
    after swimming.
  • Concrete, sand water and snow reflect up to 90% of UV rays, so wearing sun screen is vital wherever you are!
  • Don't forget to protect the tops of ears, back of neck and feet, these areas have thinner skin, and are more at risk of burning.
  • Use a rich, soothing After Sun Lotion every night of your holiday, and when you get back to prolong your tan and keep skin super soft.
