Actress Charlize Theron is to become a UN messenger of peace, it has been revealed.The 33-year old will be inducted today after being chosen by secretary general Ban Ki-Moon.He commented: "You have used your voice, compassion and special relationship with the public to create a better world."The Hollywood star is said to want to focus on putting an end to violence against women.She already has a project educating people in HIV/Aids in her home country of South Africa.Other messengers of peace include actor George Clooney, Paulo Coelho, Michael Douglas and Jane Goodall. Ms Theron has recently been seen in Hancock which she starred in alongside Will Smith. Other film roles for the starlet include an appearance as Erica Stoltz in the Yards, Britt Ekland in the Life and Death of Peter Sellars and Josey Aimes in North Country.(c) 2007 Adfero Ltd.
