The recession is responsible for celebrity looks such as the maxi dress, according to a designer.Hemlines have lengthened as the credit crunch has tightened, as longer dresses create a glamourous look, despite the struggling economy, reports the Telegraph.Actresses Eva Herzigova and Olga Kurylenko and model Agyness Deyn have all been seen in floor-length gowns recently."The thing about the long silhouette is that it is an intelligent way of dressing - light and powerful, hiding what needs to be hidden, and showing what needs to be shown," Sonia Rykiel tells the newspaper.Combining the maxi dress with costume jewellery and makeup with a touch of Hollywood glamour is the way to forget about the credit crunch, advises Telegraph writer Celia Walden.Recently experts advised that one way to beat the recession is to recycle beauty products.Louise Baty wrote in the Mirror that having a beauty swappers party is an ideal way to get your hands on great makeup. "Invite all your friends over and ask them to bring their unwanted products with them.
