The latest fragrances are revisiting scents from the 80s in a nod to the last recession, according to experts.
Perfume connoisseur Roja Dove revealed to Marie Claire that this year's latest fragrances are adapting strong scents from the decade that style forgot, which the expert described as the "shoulder pads of fragrance".
However, they have been updated with a fresh twist, according to perfumer Lyn Harris.
"Power scents in the 80s were all about the fragrances themselves," she explained to the magazine.
"They told us nothing about the wearer, only that she wanted to stand out and be noticed," Ms Harris said.
As a result, perfumers are aiming to create complex, floral scents which are striking while also allowing women to express themselves, Marie Claire reports.
Avon has recently added to its range of celebrity fragrances with new scents from global ambassador Reese Witherspoon - In Bloom - and fashion designer Christian Lacroix - Absynthe.
