   Fake eyelashes 'one of the big beauty trends of the year'

Fake eyelashes have become one of the big beauty trends this year due to celebrity endorsement, according to an expert.

Jenni Middleton, editor of Professional Beauty magazine, said that strip lashes in particular have become extremely popular this year.

She explained that women can use them "either to add extra glamour or just to enhance what you normally have".

"Celebrity endorsement has really helped move this trend on in the past few months, especially as we get up to party season," she added.

The Girls Aloud ladies have been proponents of fake eyelashes, with Cheryl Cole, Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Sarah Harding all looking fabulous in falsies.

In addition, the Strictly Come Dancing girls all wear falsies on the Saturday night programme so that their peepers are as striking as the make-up hair and dresses.

X Factor judge Dannii Minogue and her make-up artist Christian Vermaak recently told the reality TV show's official website that lashes are the key to getting A-list eyes.
