Mature women must exfoliate before they apply a moisturiser or dry skin cream, in order for these products to work effectively, according to an expert.Sanja Dragicevic, an esthetician and skincare adviser at Marvel College, tells the Edmonton Journal that older ladies must remove dead surface cells as skin takes 40 or 50 days to renew itself when women are in their 40s.Ms Dragicevic advises ladies to look for an exfoliating product with alpha-hydroxy acids or Retin-A, according to the news provider. When it comes to moisturisers, they should look for those which contain antioxidants, such as vitamins A, C and E, as these are thought to slow the skin's ageing, she states.A good quality foundation is also essential, as it is worn for a large part of the day, Ms Dragicevic asserts.Meanwhile, Jessica Matlin, writing for Elle, recently said that women should start taking care of their skin from a young age as, once damaged, their complexion will not recover.(c) 2008 Adfero Ltd.
