Avon: Domestic violence and women's empowerment
Anna SegattiAnna Segatti, PGroup Vice President, Avon Western Europe and Middle East, says

"We should all play a part in breaking down the barrier of silence around domestic violence, which has been kept in the dark for too long. By working with Women's Aid and Refuge, Avon can help facilitate better services for women experiencing domestic violence and give them the ways to speak more openly about abuse. At Avon we believe that if you empower women you can change the world."
Reese WitherspoonSays Avon Global Ambassador, Reese Witherspoon:

"I am committed to speaking out and breaking down the wall of silence that surrounds violence against women. Last year, in my role as Avon's Global Ambassador, I was extremely proud to be part of the launch of the Avon and Refuge Four Ways to Speak Out campaign. I continue to give my wholehearted support to this cause and campaign, as well as the lobbying for vital services for those affected by domestic violence."

"Women suffering from domestic violence find it difficult to reach out to others for help. They often feel intimidated and ashamed. I had a friend who confided in me after she experienced domestic abuse, and I felt that it helped her just to talk about it, and feel the support of another person. We can all play a role in making sure that women and children, no matter where they live, have access to vital support services so that they no longer have to suffer in silence. Together we can make a difference."
Cherie BlairCherie Blair, active campaigner on equality and civil rights issues, and Refuge Patron, points out

"Rarely is female empowerment expressed in stronger terms than by the pioneering domestic violence charity Refuge. Domestic violence tears lives apart; Refuge helps put them back together again. This is why their partnership with Avon is so fantastic and why I am urging everyone to wear Avon’s Empowerment Necklace as a sign that domestic violence will not be tolerated."
Sandra HorleySandra Horley, OBE and Chief Executive of Refuge says

"We are grateful for the continued support of Avon, especially in the current economic climate. It is Avon's commitment that enables Refuge to provide a lifeline for thousands of women and children living in the terrifying grip of domestic violence. We urge women everywhere to buy Avon’s Empowerment Necklace so that Refuge can continue to save lives."
Nicola HarwinNicola Harwin, CBE and Chief Executive of Women's Aid says:

"Together with Avon, Women's Aid has created the Empowering Women Awards to celebrate the amazing achievements and incredible bravery of women who have either been affected by domestic violence themselves, or who are working tirelessly in the field to support those who have experienced abuse.

Whilst we celebrate these stories of escape and ultimate success, we know that sadly there are many more stories of ongoing abuse. It is with the help of funds raised through Avon's empowerment jewellery range that Women's Aid can continue our work to directly support the women and children who are seeking escape from a violent relationship and so desperately need our help. Thank you."
